Nitro World Games - what's it all about?
It's a weekend of high-octane, extreme sports action. It's the world’s preeminent action sports competition taking place for the first time ever outside the United States. It's coming to Wales.
Over 100 elite competitors in Skate Vert, BMX Best Trick, BMX Triple Hit, Scooter Best Trick and Freestyle Motocross will face off not only for a coveted trophy, but more importantly for ultimate bragging rights as a world champion. It's mix of exciting, adrenaline-charged events, huge big air formats and innovative ramp design, featuring top athletes from across the globe. As well as the competitions, there will also be loads of family-friendly activities to keep everyone happy. Created by Nitro Circus and action sports icon Travis Pastrana, Nitro World Games pushes the limits of action sports competition.
Nitro World Games Wales 2020 will take over Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, with five electrifying action sports disciplines, all of which push the limits of gravity. Freestyle Motocross and BMX Best Trick each take big air action to the next level thanks to the world’s biggest and tallest ramps, and both have been fan favorites since the event’s inception. Also a fixture is BMX Best Triple Hit, requiring a singular combination of aerial agility and technical consistency necessary to land three tricks in quick succession. Skate Vert, a recent addition to Nitro World Games, will see top athletes take on the halfpipe, and rounding out the event is Scooter Best Trick, featuring one of action sports’ fastest growing disciplines and the biggest ramp used in competition.
Travis Pastrana, action sports icon and co-creator of the event, said, “With Nitro World Games, our mission was to allow athletes to push their sports to the next level. We wanted to give athletes bigger ramps along with innovative landing technology which allows them to push the envelope and attempt tricks previously thought impossible. To see Nitro World Games thrive after three years in the U.S. and now crossing borders for the first time and coming to Cardiff, Wales, I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Tickets, including single and multi day passes are available now from the Nitro World Games website.

Why Principality Stadium?
We think it's pretty special. After all, Principality Stadium has been the spiritual home of Welsh sport since 1999. It's the proud owner of the world's first fully retractable roof, and is widely regarded as one of the best modern event venues in the world. There's nothing like being right in the middle of 74,000 rugby fans, experiencing spine-tingling singing lifting the roof.
It's no stranger to hosting world-class sports events - Speedway, Monster Jam, world championship boxing, indoor cricket, equestrian events, Rugby World Cup and Six Nations, plus the 2017 UEFA Champions League Final to name but a few. It's also rocked Cardiff with a music gig or two. The Manic Street Preachers, Pink, Beyoncé, U2, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay have all played sell-out concerts here.
It's right in the centre of our capital city so just a short walk to Cardiff Central railway station, city centre hotels and top quality restaurants and pubs.
