A longer, traffic-free ride through the North Wales countryside
Lôn Eifion is one of North Wales’ best traffic-free cycling routes, offering a peaceful journey through open countryside between Caernarfon and the village of Bryncir. Built along a former railway line, the trail provides a smooth and easy-to-follow path throughout.
Starting in Caernarfon, the route quickly leaves the town behind and opens into wide rural landscapes, with uninterrupted views towards the mountains of Eryri. The gentle gradients make it suitable for a wide range of cyclists, while the distance allows for a satisfying half-day or full-day ride.
When combined with Lôn Las Menai, this forms one of the longest continuous traffic-free cycling experiences in North Wales.
Lôn Eifion connects directly with Lôn Las Menai at Caernarfon, creating a longer, largely traffic‑free route through North Wales. Together, they offer a continuous ride from the Menai Strait to the edge of Eryri.
