About Neath Golf Club

If you are looking for a change from playing the seaside courses when visiting the West Glamorgan area, then Neath Golf Club is an excellent place to visit. In direct contrast to Swansea's great linkland clubs, the one at Neath sits majestically atop a high hill at Cadoxton and two miles from the bustling old town of Neath. Founded in 1934, the then committee members had the sense to commission a top quality golfer in the shape of Open champion James Braid to lay out the course from difficult terrain, and he most certainly came up trumps by creating a demanding course. The vistas of the Vale of Neath and the outstanding countryside beyond are something very special. James Braid once wrote of the views: I must say the views from every part of this course are truly magnificent. Henry Cotton also wrote a glowing tribute to the course when he penned a letter to a close friend: I've travelled the entire golfing world but never before seen such golfing beauty as at Neath...... why not see for yourself!
