The National White Water Centre is located in Bala in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The centre is the UK’s original white water rafting venue with over 30 years’ experience. Set in stunning Welsh hills, the dam controlled River Tryweryn has high flows ideal for exhilarating white water rafting and canyoning adventures on natural rapids throughout the year.

Our most popular rafting session! This two hour session takes you crashing down the Upper Tryweryn’s natural, Welsh mountain white water rapids, with enough time to usually fit in 4 exciting and challenging runs of the one mile section.

A Rafting Taster Session is an ideal introduction to white water rafting! A great session for individuals, small groups or anyone wondering if riding the rapids is the adrenaline fuelled activity for them. The Rafting Taster session takes you on two action packed runs down the Upper Tryweryn’s natural, Welsh mountain white water rapids!

This is a great family friendly session! Perfect for children aged 10 and 11, this session will take you adventuring down the fun and varied white water rapids on the Lower Tryweryn River. The beautiful valley is teaming with wildlife along with some challenging rapids, boulder gardens and surf waves. The four mile trip will finish in the nearby town of Bala, from where you will be shuttled back up to the centre for a warm shower!

Orca Adventure is a session for the adventurous! Learn the skills to negotiate our white water rapids in an inflatable two-person Orca. A step up from white water rafting but not quite as committing as kayaking, the Orca Adventure is a great way to feel the exposure of the river environment whilst having some expert advice from experienced guides.

For this white water adventure you won't be sitting in a raft for your river descent! You will be transported to a venue off-site where you will test your skills and bravery to the max. You will climb, scramble, slide and swim your way through the gorge with the added bonus of the stunning scenery of this remote river, located within Snowdonia National Park. This activity is a fantastic way to experience the thrill of being deep in a gorge with nothing but nature (and your instructor) to guide you down the twists and turns of the cascading river.

If you don't fancy the adventure of the river, don't worry: there is a riverside walk, café and picnic areas which give you the opportunity to take in the splendour of the surrounding in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, and the breath-taking scenery of the area offers a magnificent retreat, not only for the water sports enthusiast, but for everyone.
