About Plantasia

Plantasia Tropical Zoo is Swansea's hi-tech hot house zoo boasting one of the finest collections of plants and animals in the country. There are 2 climate zones, Tropical and Arid, to explore.

Step through a giant tree into a real rainforest and spend the day exploring this vibrant and magical world. Crawl through the under growth, come face to face with crocodiles and dare to climb high in the canopy with the parrots! Grow your imaginations in this interactive, fully immersive tropical experience for all the family.

Alongside its core animal exhibits, Plantasia is home to a number of permanent and semi-permanent installations. Giants of the Past invites visitors to step back in time and explore prehistoric life through life-sized large-scale replica skeletons and fossils that come to life through the magic of AR, blending imagination with learning. The zoo also hosts an Alfred Russel Wallace exhibition, developed in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales, celebrating the naturalist’s connection to Wales and his contribution to evolutionary science.

Expanding its focus on science, ecology and education, Plantasia has introduced Vital Venoms & Practical Poisons, a dedicated interpretive space exploring species that use toxins and venom as part of their survival, and the role these substances play in nature and human understanding.

With an on-site café, gift shop, monthly events, VIP experiences and educational workshops, Plantasia Tropical Zoo offers a distinctive, engaging day out for families, schools and visitors to Southwest Wales.
