About Carregfelen

"To see this house on a June evening is enchanting: roses running wild, candles blazing and, of course, those mesmerising views. A true midsummer night's dream"

Carregfelen is a beautiful, unusual and quirky 14th Century Manor House set among woodlands and extensive gardens. Sleeping up to 11 guests, it was extended in the 1920's by the owner's uncle (Clough Williams-Ellis) and is full of charm and character. Outside are sloping lawns, a wildflower meadow and an orchard which bursts with fruit over the summer. Inside are twisty corridors, marvellous antique furniture and staircases that date back to the 1600s. The ancient oak woodlands are a joy to explore. The ground floor comprises a beautifully furnished hall, a cosy sitting room with an inglenook fireplace, a magnificent dining room with an oak refectory table and a sunny kitchen. French Windows lead from the dining room onto the lawned gardens. Trot up a few steps to find the "nursery" - a sitting room originally designed for children with comfy sofa, toys, books and TV. There are good size bedrooms (one double and one twin). The spacious bathroom has one of Bronwyn Williams-Ellis' tiled panels above the bath. The nursery offers self contained facilities and would be perfect for guests with limited mobility.

On the upper floors are the rest of the bedrooms. The glorious Master with en-suite bathroom and breathtaking views of Moel Y Gest which greets you when you draw the curtains in the morning. The Ship Room (with double bed) and Pink Room (with twin beds) are on this floor and share two bathrooms. Up the steps are two more bedrooms - one with a double and the other with a single bed. All the bedrooms are full of character and style, with big old-fashioned bathrooms and up-to-the-minute showers. No need to fight for the views: every room has one. Add to this high speed broadband and contemporary fittings and you won’t want to stray too far. If the weather is a little inclement then try our treasure hunt!

Just let us know if you are celebrating a special occasion and we will do our best to keep the surprise and arrange something a little different!
