About Tredegar House

Tredegar House, in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, is perfect for Hay Festival stays and as a base to explore the town’s many book stores and other independent shops which dot its curving lanes. Walking, hiking and canoeing are all on your doorstep.

This timber frame building housed a pub for 200 years. You can just about hear the ancient pub banter as you sit surrounded by oak beams and watch through the windows as the townspeople pass by.

This spacious house is split over 4 floors. The stylish living room with wood burning stove is on the open plan ground floor next to a smart, well-appointed kitchen which leads out to a secluded courtyard with fern garden.

Right in the heart of Hay on Wye, enjoy relaxed, self catered meals in this former pub whilst watching the town buzz with activity outside.
Enjoy a long breakfast watching the world go by

The master bedroom is furnished with a super king bed, sitting area and en-suite with bath and shower.
A double bedroom with its own sitting room sits up in the eaves of the house with beautiful original wooden floors and beams. A modern three piece shower at the bottom of the attic stairs serves this suite.

The lower ground is home to a small study under a vaulted brick ceiling. Beside it is another sitting room with two single sofa beds.

There is no need for a car here. All it takes is 20 minutes to walk the town circuit. Everything is on your doorstep, which is why we’re worthy of being called one of the most wonderful rural retreats in Wales.

There is easy access via wheelchair to the ground floor but there is no lift and both WCs are on the first floor.
