About The British Bird of Prey Centre
The British Bird of Prey Centre is a family‑friendly attraction in Idole, just a few miles from Carmarthen town centre, focused on native and visiting British raptors. You can watch exciting flying displays, meet the birds in their aviaries, visit the activity zone, grab a bite to eat in the cafe and enjoy the beautiful views. You can even fly a bird yourself in a group experience. Seasonal activities and events take place throughout the year, check out the website or social media to find out what's happening when you visit.
David Attenborough famously said “No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced”. The aim of the Centre is to inspire future generations to love these beautiful birds so that they will be protected for years to come.
Flying displays take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm each day, each one with a different collection of birds. The displays showcase the birds' natural flying styles, including hovering Kestrels and Red Kites eating mid flight! Keepers share clear, engaging information about how these birds live in the wild and the simple ways we can all help protect them.
Pre-bookable private experiences are also available. Whether it's owls, eagles or a raven that interest you, there's a private experience to suit!
The centre welcomes school trips, coach parties and community groups, with activities that work well for mixed ages and different levels of knowledge.
