About Blaenafon Heritage & Cordell Museum

The Blaenafon Community Heritage & Cordell Museum shows the fascinating history of the town from the early days of the Industrial Revolution, through to the modern day World Heritage Site. Many of the items on exhibit have been donated by the local community.
Alexander Cordell was one of Wales' most prolific writers who took his inspiration from the people and places of South Wales, and in particular the small town of Blaenafon. His best selling novel 'Rape of the Fair Country' immortalised the people who lived and worked in Blaenavon during the Industrial Revolution. Cordell's personal writing effects, including his desk and typewriter are now on display at the Museum.
