About Aneurin Bevan Stones

This monument commemorates Aneurin Bevan, the outstanding politician who was born in Tredegar in 1897 and elected M.P. for the area in 1929. Nye Bevan was the architect for the National Health Service which he established as Minister for Health. Sadly, he died on 6th July, 1960.
The memorial stands at Bryn Serth, just off the A4047, at a site used by Nye Bevan for public meetings. Symbolically, the central monolith represents Nye Bevan himself, whilst three satellite stones represents his constituents in Ebbw Vale, Tredegar and Rhymney.
