Treowen Historic House

Treowen is a Grade I listed early 17th century house at Wonastow near Monmouth in Monmouthshire. Described in 1787 by antiquarian Charles Heath as “a Noble Mansion” with “a correspondent dignity” throughout, his words still ring true today.

On advertised public visiting days, you can step inside this historic gentry house, see its famous solid oak staircase, panelled rooms and armorial bearings, and enjoy the far‑reaching views that first impressed Heath. Outside, there are gardens, woodland walks and a strong sense of the house in its original rural setting.
