About Picton Castle & Gardens

Immerse yourself in seven hundred years of Welsh history with a visit to Picton Castle.

This 14th century castle has a rich past that mirrors turbulent times in Welsh history. From military action in medieval times, to fighting for the Tudors and sweeping social change in the 18th century, this unique castle has survived it all.

Remodelled internally during the Georgian period, Picton Castle effortlessly combines its ancient origins with sumptuously appointed rooms. Inside you will discover a fine collection of art, antiques, rare books, and musical instruments and even a toy museum.

Surrounded by 50 acres of tranquil gardens, Picton can boast that it is an RHS Partner Garden. The gentle climate of west Wales nurtures our collection of rare tree ferns, exotic plants and flowers. You can explore the walled garden, meander the paths and lawns, enjoying the abundance of wildlife and views over rolling parkland.

A day at Picton is to explore the fascinating history of this most unusual Welsh castle. We have garden trails for the children, an adventure playground and maze. Why not relax over lunch in our locally famous restaurant, or snap up an unusual plant or pre-loved book in the second handbook shop?

Open all year. Dogs on leads are welcome in the gardens (assistance dogs only in the castle).
