Plas Glyn-y-Weddw is one of Wales' most picturesque and oldest art venues, housed in a stunning Gothic-style mansion built in 1857. It is an arts and heritage centre of national importance, fusing art, nature, and culture through a wide range of activities. Accredited as a museum since 2013, the centre has been managed by an independent charitable trust since 1996. Set within 12 acres of Winllan woodland, the venue offers restored walking trails and an outdoor theatre.
Exhibitions change every 6-8 weeks, with various art exhibitions throughout the year, including a permanent display of Swansea and Nantgarw porcelain. The arts centre also hosts adult and kids' art workshops, concerts, lectures, and many other events. A new sculptural café, built between 2019 and 2022, has won national design awards. Plas Glyn-y-Weddw now attracts over 140,000 visitors annually, and in 2023, it became a revenue client of the Arts Council of Wales, joining the National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales to further expand access to contemporary art.
In addition to its cultural offerings, the centre features a licensed tea room, craft shop, and paintings for sale. It is also licensed for civil weddings and caters to business meetings, conferences, and private functions. A self-catering apartment sleeping 10+ is also available for guests.
