At Rhosllyn Retreats we have two luxurious lodges, surrounded by tranquil grounds, overlooking the lake. Situated in the Nantmel Valley, it is just 3 miles from charming market town of Rhayader, which is the gateway to the Elan Valley.
From the parking area the entrance to each lodge takes you into the spacious open-plan ground floor living area. The lounge area offers 3 comfortable sofas facing the TV along with a cosy wood burning stove, so is ideal for relaxing after a long day sightseeing. The kitchen is modern with all the appliances you need to cook a delicious home-cooked meal. The dining area is situated between the kitchen and lounge with a view through the French doors which takes you out to the decked veranda with its outside dining area and the hot tub which comfortably seats 8 people.
There are two spacious ground floor bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite shower room, along with French doors that frame a view of the lake. There is also a separate ground floor family shower room.
The whole of the ground floor, including the access from the outside areas is suitable for those with limited mobility.
Upstairs are two grand bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and chandeliers. Both rooms have ensuite shower rooms along with a freestanding bathtub in the bedroom. The front bedroom also has a sofa and French doors which give access to a covered balcony which looks out at the lake and there is a bistro set on the balcony for private dining. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has views across pastureland to Gwastedyn Hill.
All of the beds are zip and link so can be made into super-king or twin single beds as required by your group or family.
The lodges sit in 2 acres of landscaped grounds and are separated by a good distance to allow for privacy. Enjoy views across the lake and the purpose made BBQs on the lawn. Lapwing Lodge also includes a private games room and firepit area in the woodland. There is off-road private parking for 4 cars at each lodge. Cyclists are welcome and there are washing facilities along with an undercover rack for 4 bikes.
From the lodges there are walks along quiet country lanes, through woods and across farmland and is ideal for bird watching, from small birds, waterfowl on the lake and the Red Kites soaring above. There are also plenty of sites and activities to visit and take part in, in the local area. A visit to the Elan Valley has to be a must with its 3 reservoirs and unique dams, forested areas and waterfalls, the scenery is stunning and is perfect for walkers and cyclists. The Elan Valley is also Wales only Dark Skies Park and makes it ideal for looking at the stars and planets, and at the Craig Goch Dam there are maps of the night sky to guide you with identification.
