About Porth Hir

This historic Grade II listed property is perfectly located right on the seafront in the beautiful seaside town of Beaumaris on the isle of Anglesey. The house is a stone’s throw from a pebbly beach with glorious, constantly changing views over the Menai Straits to Snowdonia. Peacefully situated on the edge of Beaumaris but still only a 5 minute stroll from local pubs, restaurants and craft shops. It’s the perfect base to explore all that Anglesey has to offer as well as being only a 30 minute drive away from Eryri National Park (Snowdonia).

Porth Hir is a supremely comfortable and cosy home with plenty of space to sink into an armchair with a good book or just kick off your shoes and stretch out in front of the fire. There are 2 sitting rooms, 1 upstairs with a gas stove and a log burner downstairs with a Smart TV. The house is also centrally heated and there is fast and reliable whole home wi-fi.

Upstairs there are 3 swish but traditional bedrooms and 2 smart tiled bathrooms. 1 with 2 full size single beds, 1 king size with ensuite shower room, 1 Super king (can be separated into 2 single beds on request) with ensuite bathroom. The third bathroom is located on the ground floor. Guests have frequently commented on the comfort and quality of the beds and the luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding.

There is a long balcony accessed by a French door from the upstairs sitting room, perfect for watching the birds and boats sailing by while enjoying your morning coffee or early evening aperitif!

The kitchen is very well-equipped and the large range cooker is perfect for cooking up a storm. There is also a separate dining room with lovely sea views. Great for long, lazy breakfasts but also perfect for celebrating a special occasion.

Outside in the pretty, gated courtyard garden there is a bench sheltered under the veranda, the ideal space for contemplating those dreamy views, and a picnic table with umbrella and deckchairs for eating al fresco.

There is plenty to do in Beaumaris, explore the town’s medieval moated castle, stroll along the Victorian pier, browse in the craft and antique shops. There are shops selling local produce and plenty of choice for local pubs and restaurants. Don’t miss the Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour on Beaumaris high street. There is also the new Beaumaris beach sauna and hot tub only a few minutes walk from the house which can be booked at www.seacoastsauna.co.uk.

Anglesey is perfect for walkers, there are lovely walks straight from your door and the island is known for its miles of pristine sandy beaches and scenic coastal paths. Bring your binoculars for bird watching, sea kayaking and boat trips for spotting seals, dolphins and puffins. Bikes can be rented and the 17 mile Telor Cycle Tour starts and ends in Beaumaris. Bring your golf clubs to play, not one but two local courses, Barons Hill or the nearby Henlys Golf Club course. Blackberry picking, building sandcastles, paddling in rock pools and crabbing are also traditional pastimes to be enjoyed at any age! But however you decide to spend your time in Anglesey we feel sure you will agree that Porth Hir is a very special, magical home.

For more ideas and information about activities and places to visit on Anglesey see our website.

Porth Hir is generally suitable for supervised children and a travel cot, high-chair and stairgate are provided, it sleeps a maximum of 6 people but 1 baby under the age of 24 months can also be accommodated. We are also pet friendly and up to 2 dogs are welcome.
