Rooms are designed with the hotel’s heritage in mind and have all the facilities and modern day comfort you need, balancing both style and function in this wonderfully historic building. Comfy beds with sumptuous fabrics and furnishings – colours and textures influenced by the stunning landscape that surrounds us.
Free Wi-Fi throughout with flat screen TV’s & Freeview channels in all rooms. A handy desk/dressing table, together with hairdryer, safe, iron & ironing board and tea & coffee making facilities take care of the practicalities.
Local artwork and historical artefacts continue throughout the restaurants, giving a real sense of place within the National Park. The first of its kind plein air painting group was set up by renowned Victorian landscape artist David Cox when he stayed at the Royal Oak in the 1840's. Displayed inside the hotel is the signboard painted by Cox in 1847, showing a grand Oak tree, It was fixed to the wall above the entrance until 1866, when it was framed and displayed in the hall, it now takes pride of place above the fireplace in the lounge.
