About Pengwern Cymunedol

Originally an old drover's and coaching inn, the Pengwern is a traditional pub with rooms set in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia). It is now owned and run by the community of Llan Ffestiniog on a not-for-profit basis. We offer simple, homely accommodation in a casual atmosphere, with a warm welcome from our staff and volunteers. Located on the village square, overlooking the Vale of Ffestiniog, the Pengwern is the perfect base for exploring the North Wales countryside and enjoying the many activities and attractions in the area.

We have nine comfortable bedrooms. Each is ensuite and is equipped with a television, desk, wardrobe, and tea and coffee-making facilities. We are dog-friendly and your furry friends are more than welcome (for a small fee). We have even hosted a few cats in the past!
The Pengwern sits in a fantastic location between mountains and sea. Central to Snowdonia, we sit in the Moelwynion mountain range, with easy access to the all the beautiful mountains in the National Park, including Y Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cadair Idris, and the Rhinogydd. But we are also just 12 miles from the wide sandy beaches of Harlech and Black Rock Sands. On any clear day, the Irish sea and the Llyn peninsula are visible from the village. Both the Snowdonia Slate Trail and the Traws Eryri pass Llan Ffestiniog, read more on these fantastic scenic routes below. The area has something for anyone from thrill seekers to culture enthusiasts, hikers, cyclists, anglers, and rail fans.
