Sanctuary in the canopy
By the Wye is a glamping holiday experience with one important difference, the treetop tent is already pitched when you arrive. Safari tents come with roaring campfires, beautiful beds, sumptuous sofas, running water, flushing toilets, eco-friendly toiletries and fully equipped kitchens. A holiday at By the Wye is the ultimate in luxury glamping and is enough to tempt even the most reluctant of campers out into the woods on holiday. We have 5 tents sleeping 2-5 guests, 4 adults 1 child. Choose the one that best suits you - the Cwtch for couples only with a private sauna, Holly - set on its own, then the trio of Ash, Ivy and Meadow, the last two connected by a treetop walkway for larger family groups. Outside the glamping tent is a covered deck area with seating to make the most of the incredible riverside views, there is also a separate picnic table and fire pit for alfresco dining and cooking, except for The Ivy which has a BBQ on the deck instead of a firepit.
By the Wye Treetop Glamping in Hay on Wye is cosy, comfortable and environmentally sustainable being off grid with everything running from Solar Energy. The glamping site is designed to minimise its impact on the environment in the surrounding woodland, it's for this reason many areas have been left untouched as nature reserves, with SSSI’s attracting an abundance of wildlife, it's also why we can no longer accept dogs.
Come for a Hay-Cation
Our location in Hay-on-Wye, famous as the ‘Town of Books’ and home to the annual Hay Festival, places you at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with easy access to walking routes, local cafés, independent shops and outdoor activities. Today Hay-on-Wye – or Y Gelli Gandryll as it is known in the Welsh language – is friendly, lively and vibrant and, unsurprisingly for a town with such individuality and literary associations, is twinned with Timbuktu, which itself has the oldest Islamic library in the world.
