About Pro Active Adventure Ltd

Pro-Active Adventure is a respected and experienced provider of Outdoor Activities throughout Wales. The company was formed in 2000 so we have many years’ experience of providing an extensive range of outdoor pursuits for a wide range of customers. We provide day activity events for families, corporate clients and adult groups. We also specialise in school residential activity breaks and specialist programmes for youth groups. We are inspected and licensed by the AALS and LOtC. All our instructors hold National Governing Body Awards in the activities they lead and have at least three years post qualifying experience, all are also multi-disciplinary (So they hold more than two qualifications in different skills) This means they can stay with your group for the duration of your activity whether it is a day activity or school residential break. This means your group or school does not have to swap between different instructors. This means a more trusting relationship is developed between participants and instructor which enables a great level of achievement in the activity being undertaken. This means participants tend to try new things more comfortably thus more confidence is gained from taking part in more challenging activities. We cater for age groups from 6 to 66 and all levels of ability. If you are looking for a week long activity programme or just a single day of adventure we can provide the activity for you.

All activity session’s last half a day, with the exception of mountaineering which is generally is a full day experience, so if you want a full day of activities you can choose two activities. Timings can be arranged to suit your group. On school residential breaks, activities normally start at 9:00 stop for lunch about 12:30 and start again about 13:30 and finish in the evening about 16:30. Also on school residential visits there is an optional extra of an evening activity which runs from 18:00 to 19:30.

At Pro-Active Adventure we don’t just limit ourselves to activities in Wales. We operate in Crete, Morocco and France. Over recent years we have taken several expeditions to climb Jebel Toukbal in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. More recently they have just returned from Crete after taking over 90 pupils from a respected international school in Switzerland, on a personal development week. The trip was so successful that the school immediately re-booked for next year on their return to Switzerland.

Pro-Active offer seasonal discounts and special rates for out of season and early bookings. Our list of activities include:

Climbing And Abseiling
Open to all levels of ability, a traditional outdoor centre activity. Involves climbing on an attached rope up single pitch climbs. The climb can be chosen to suit the level of ability of the client. Half day activity.
Abseiling involves you lowering yourself off a cliff face backwards very exciting and a classic outdoor activity. You are on a safety line so will be kept safe by an instructor. Open to all levels of ability and abseils can be very small or up to 50 meters high or more, depending on the clients ability and confidence. Half day activity, can be an evening activity for groups of 20 or less.

Bush Craft
Open to all levels of ability. Bush Craft is learning how to look after yourself in a wilderness situation using some basic bush craft tools and equipment. As part of a residential stay schools only usually take one session so it is a basic introduction. However if they want to develop it further we can deliver several days of bush craft in half day or full day sessions. The introduction session involves simple shelter building, identifying and selecting appropriate fire making materials, making a small camp fire and preparing a hot drink or simple meal. Half day session, the fire or shelter making elements can be delivered separately to take up an evening activity.

Coasteering
Climbing & Abseiling
Climbing & Abseiling
Open to all levels of ability. Coasteering came about through climbers scrambling around sea cliffs to discover new climbs. Then they decided that it was quiet good fun just to do the scrambling along the rocks at sea level bit. Add to that a wet suit, helmet and buoyancy aid and jumping of cliffs into the sea and forging through surf, then there you have it coasteering. Great fun for all, a very popular activity, we offer half day trips all across Pembrokeshire. This activity is great fun if ran back to back with body boarding or beach games.

Sit On Top Kayaking
Open to all levels of ability. Sit on top kayaking is very popular because it does not give the participant the trapped feeling many people get from sitting in a single seat closed cockpit. If you simply just want to give it a go and learn some skills to move on to canoeing or kayaking, our experienced and enthusiastic instructors will provide a tailor made course.

Mountain Biking
Open to all levels of ability. As a registered centre for mountain bike leader training participants are in the right hands to really develop their skills and learn new ones. You will get involved in drop offs, technical climbing, single track, bunny hops and learn how to ride technical trails if you wish to challenge yourselves that much. For those who really excel there’s a chance to take their “Gears Award” and get a certificate for their technical riding skills. Half day activity but can be a full day if required, also available as an evening activity is our “Skills Clinic”

Mountaineering And Trekking
Open to all levels of ability. A classic outdoor centre activity. We can off gentle half day mountain walks to look at areas of outstanding natural beauty or scientific interest all across the Brecon Beacons. Alternatively we can offer a full on day or multi day mountain expedition. In Pembrokeshire there is an opportunity to explore the scenic coastal path that winds its way over towering cliffs and into secluded sandy bays. We offer full or half day coastal treks.

Body Boarding
This activity is open to all levels of ability. Sessions usually operate from the beach just across the car park to the hostel. This activity is a great starter towards learning to surf a full board. Pupils are given full instruction and will start off in moderate surf to gain their initial skills. A very popular session with pupils of all ages.

Orienteering
Open to all levels of ability. You are given a simple map and compass and you have to complete a course round the centre or nearby location to find markers with letters or numbers on for you to collect. Quickest one to locate all posts wins. Usually an evening activity but can be developed to make a half day activity if necessary.

Raft Building
Open to all levels of ability. You are given some large plastic barrels, wooden poles, ropes and paddles. In teams you then have to design and build your own raft out of the pieces you are given. You will then have an obstacle course to race your raft round against the other teams. Half day session.

Survival Skills
Open to all levels of ability. Very similar to Bush Craft only you do not have the same level of tools and resources. This is more about learning to survive with the absolute minimum as if there was a disaster, natural or otherwise. First session would involve learning the first basic rules of survival and how to find resources to keep you alive. Half day session.

Team Initiative Exercises
Open to all levels of ability. A whole range of team exercises that will challenge and develop team working. Exercises include: Blocked, Blindfold square, Tyre dash, Key pad, Spiders web, Magic sticks, Pipeline, Wobble board, product assembly and many, many more. Usually an evening activity but can easily be a half day activity. A great activity for developing team skills and communication.

Caving
Open to all levels of ability. Learn about another world just below our feet. Involves wearing caving suit, helmet and light and walking or crawling through underground passages. Some caves can be quiet challenging small places and others are fairly open and you can stand up in most places, you can choose the level of difficulty. Half day activity.
