Set in Tresilian Wood, hide shares nearly eight acres of land with an arboretum, so it's truly amongst the wildlife. It's near St Donats, a small village with wonderful views of the Welsh coastline and easy access to great walks in the wilderness.

There are five special accommodation options on the secluded Trellyn Woodland Camping site in Pembrokeshire. Two of them are geo-domes that measure seven metres wide, meaning there's plenty of room for chilling out. Strawberry Skys Yurts, Cyfronydd, Mid Wales

Right in the middle of the countryside, the dog-friendly Strawberry Skys Yurts are designed for a tranquil, eco-conscious rural family or group getaway. Four well equipped yurts are nestled on a wooded hillside, each with a firepit and separate toilet and shower cabin down the hill. It's a place to relax and let the kids run around and watch the stars at night. There's plenty nearby for explorers to discover as well - it's a fabulous spot for discovering Mid Wales.

Fforest, Cardigan, Mid Wales

We couldn't write about camping without mentioning Fforest Camp, a cornerstone of eco-camping in Wales. A haven for those looking for comfort and relaxation, it is situated in 200 acres of rolling woodland and wild meadow outside Cardigan. A second site called Manorfan is located in a wooded valley just 15 minutes’ walk from the National Trust beach of Penbryn. There are various accommodation options at both, but whatever you choose you'll be guaranteed an antidote to the busy modern world.
