IRONMAN Wales is set to return to the coastal town of Tenby on 13 September 2026, bringing one of the UK’s toughest endurance events back to West Wales. Athletes will take on the full IRONMAN distance: a 3.8 km sea swim, a demanding 180 km bike course through rolling countryside, and a full 42.2 km marathon to finish. Known for its challenging terrain and unpredictable coastal weather, the race has earned a reputation as one of the most testing on the European circuit.
Race day begins with a dramatic start at Tenby’s North Beach, where competitors enter the sea beneath the town’s historic cliffs. The bike course then winds through the scenic roads of Pembrokeshire, featuring relentless climbs and technical sections that reward strong bike handling and pacing. The marathon brings athletes back into town, where large crowds line the streets and the atmosphere builds toward a memorable finish along the seafront.
Since its debut in 2011, IRONMAN Wales has become a highlight of the Welsh sporting calendar, drawing participants and supporters from around the world. Beyond the competition itself, the event transforms Tenby into a lively hub of activity for the weekend, showcasing the area’s community spirit and stunning coastal scenery. For many triathletes, it’s not just a race — it’s an experience defined by grit, support, and the unmistakable energy of race day in West Wales.
