About Fishguard International Music Festival
The Fishguard Festival of Music is one of Wales’s most established classical music events, held annually in the coastal town of Fishguard. Founded in 1969, the festival has built a strong international reputation for attracting high-calibre performers from across the UK and beyond. Concerts take place in intimate venues such as churches and halls, giving audiences a close, immersive experience of chamber music, recitals, and small ensemble performances.
The 2026 edition is scheduled for mid to late July and will continue the festival’s tradition of offering a diverse programme, from well-known classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions. Musicians typically include acclaimed soloists, string quartets, pianists, and vocalists, often presenting both solo and collaborative works. This variety allows audiences to experience a broad spectrum of classical music styles within a relatively short period.
What makes the festival particularly distinctive is its setting along the Pembrokeshire coast. Visitors can combine concerts with scenic walks, harbour views, and local cultural attractions, creating a relaxed yet culturally rich atmosphere. The event also contributes significantly to the local community, drawing visitors from across the UK and internationally while maintaining a welcoming, small-town feel that sets it apart from larger urban festivals.
