About Open Doors - Plas Newydd House and Garden

Set in a magnificent position overlooking the Menai Strait, Plas Newydd is opening its doors for a special weekend of free admission. Once the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Anglesey, the Grade I listed house is filled with history, works of art and fascinating collections, including Rex Whistler’s impressive 58-foot fantasy landscape painting.

Outside, there is plenty more to discover, with 40 acres of gardens and extensive woodland and parkland to explore. Visitors can stroll through the arboretum and Italianate terrace garden, enjoy the views towards Eryri or look out for the estate’s resident red squirrels. There are also family-friendly activities, including opportunities to get creative with art materials around the garden.
