Cardiff Mela 2026 takes place on Sunday 21 June 2026 at Roald Dahl Plass in Cardiff Bay, marking the 20th anniversary of this free, outdoor multicultural festival. The event will run from around midday to early evening and is expected to attract a large and diverse crowd, as it has in previous years.
Cardiff Mela is one of Wales’ largest multicultural gatherings, celebrating music, dance, arts, food, fashion, and community spirit. It’s open to people of all ages and backgrounds, with the aim of sharing cultural traditions and bringing communities together in a vibrant festival atmosphere.
Beyond the main stage performances, Cardiff Mela offers a range of cultural attractions throughout the day.
These typically include:
- Live dance and music acts from diverse styles and backgrounds, from traditional to contemporary.
- Multicultural food and drink stalls, with cuisine from South Asia and other parts of the world.
- Funfair rides and family activities, such as face painting and kids’ zones.
- Market stalls selling clothes, jewellery, crafts and arts.
- Community zones and workshops, often showcasing local organisations, creative demonstrations and participatory opportunities.
