About Swansea Valley Holiday Cottages

High hills of blue pennant sandstone provide a romantic background to the Welsh holiday cottages. Visitors may roam 120 acres of surrounding countryside which includes beautiful oak woodland, mountain streams and extensive hillside areas with wonderful views of the Swansea Valley, Swansea Bay and Brecon Beacons National Park.

NANT Y PLAS - sleeps 2
A one bedroom cottage for romantics. Nant Y Plas sits alongside the river Clydach whose sparking waters flow past a stunning glass fronted patio garden- a wonderful place to relax, read a book and enjoy spotting wildlife such as wild trout and grey wagtails. The interior unites traditional and modern, with exposed stonework, calm, neutral colours coupled with luxurious furnishings, statement lighting and a contemporary kitchen. The gigantic roll top Victorian cast iron bath, originally from the Plas Manor house, has been restored and now takes pride of place in this cottage. And if baths are not your thing, there is also a luxurious walk-in rainforest shower. The cottage is all on ground level making it suitable for those with limited mobility.

BWTHYN Y SAER - sleeps 2 to 4
Bwthyn y Saer farm holiday accommodation was once an estate carpenter's workshop. The fast flowing waters of the mountain river that runs alongside the holiday cottages, once powered a waterwheel that powered the carpenter's tools. The holiday accommodation is all on ground level, offering easy access for wheelchairs. The cottage consists of a lounge-diner, two bedrooms, bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen.

HAFOD Y WENNOL - sleeps 4
Hafod y Wennol farm holiday cottage once served as an estate stable and coachhouse, with the loft being used as a dove cote and an animal food store.
Today, the ground floor consists of a kitchen-diner, WC and cosy lounge, equipped with a stone fireplace, woodburning stove, and traditional Welsh furniture. The loft boasts original pine beams, and consists of a bathroom, twin bedroom and master bedroom with twin size bed. This five star farm cottage is very cosy and very popular with those seeking a farm stay holiday in Wales

Y STABL - sleeps 4
Y Stabl self catering holiday cottage was originally the main stable block and coach house of the estate. The groom's quarters were on the first floor, the warmth from the horses beneath keeping them warm. Original beams have been retained. The self catering cottage has a private riverside lawn area with access to the river. Special features in the cottage include a wood burning stove and four-poster bed. The accommodation has a porch, well equipped kitchen, lounge, hall with downstairs WC, double and twin bedrooms and bathroom.

TY CERBYD - sleeps 4
Ty Cerbyd holiday cottage is surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside and was originally the main stable block and coach house of the estate. The groom's quarters were on the first floor, the warmth from the horses beneath keeping them warm. Original beams have been retained including one bearing a groom's name from bygone days. The countryside cottage has a private riverside patio area with access to the river. The cottage has a porch, well equipped kitchen, lounge, hall with downstairs WC, double and twin bedrooms and bathroom.
LLO LLO - sleeps 4
A modern, cosy and comfortable cottage that enjoys a stunning location alongside the upper reaches of the River Clydach. Downstairs is open plan. A well equipped kitchen is situated opposite the lounge area which has river views, comfortable seating and a HDTV with Freesat. A door leads from the lounge onto the riverside terrace. There is also a contemporary wet room with a rainforest shower downstairs. Upstairs there is a bathroom and two bedrooms - one with a double bed, one with twin beds. Lloc Llo is where traditional meets contemporary. Made from blue pennant sandstone. Heated by biomass. Insulated by sheep's wool. This cottage is popular with guests who love cottages that are modern and contemporary in design whilst retaining their historic features. There is even an arrowslit in the contemporary wet room!

TY GAMBO - sleeps 6
This luxurious, modern holiday cottage is upside down - bedrooms downstairs, an open plan kitchen and lounge area upstairs. Designed by award winning Rio Architects to be contemporary and minimalist whilst retaining period features, this cottage was once used for storing carts on an old country estate. It is warm and cosy thanks to a renewable biomass heating system, downstairs underfloor heating and best of all - sheep's wool insulation! The king-sized master bedroom is spacious, with modern furniture complemented by a historic section of exposed blue pennant sandstone wall. A stunning contemporary wet room includes a stand alone bath tub with waterfall tap, walk in rainforest shower and generously sized fluffy white towels The ground floor is completed by two twin/double bedrooms.

BRYN HIR - Sleeps 8
Bryn Hir, a splendid 19th century Georgian Coach House, consists of two neighbouring holiday cottages interconnected to create one large four bedroomed cottage. Sleeping eight guests in total, Bryn Hir has a riverside hot tub on the bank of the picturesque River Clydach. In addition to the four bedrooms, there are two fully equipped kitchens, two living rooms, two bathrooms, two downstairs WCs - in fact, two of everything (apart from the hot tub!) Perfect accommodation for groups or families seeking a unique holiday experience, the property features a wood burning stove and four poster bed. Set on a private estate, this elegant and historic coach house is ideal for exploring Brecon Beacons National Park and the Gower Peninsula. The name Bryn Hir means Long Mountain – a reference to the mystical sandstone ridge of Mynydd Marchywel that overlooks the Plas Cilybebyll Estate and provides wonderful walking opportunities for guests.
