Aberdare itself is nestled between the Merthyr and Rhondda Valley, and offers an array of retail, leisure and essential amenities.
The town boasts an 18 hole golf course (one mile away), a theatre-the "Coliseum" (one mile) - that offers a diverse cultural programme;a leisure centre and swimming pool (three-quarters of a mile) and a beautiful country park (one and a quarter miles).
The town is home to the Cynon Valley Museum, which takes visitors on a voyage of historical discovery.
The train and bus stations are 5 minutes wak away, and provides access to Cardiff and Swansea by train or and bus. The Celtic Manor resort, venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup Golf Event, is 45 minutes away by the road. Some 20 minutes drive to the North is the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, whilst a little further (45 to 60 minutes dirve) are the stunning beautiful beaches of the Gower Peninsular (to the West) and the Blaenavon Iron Works World Heritage Site (to the North-East). Cardiff/Wales airport is some 50minutes away by road.
