About Cardiff Winter Wonderland - November-January at Cardiff
Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland 2025 will run from 13 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, and it’s spread across two main locations in the city centre: Cardiff Castle grounds and City Hall Lawn, offering a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages.
One of the main attractions is the covered ice rink and ice walk set within the grounds Cardiff Castle.
For beginners or those looking for a more relaxed experience, a novice rink is also available.
Over at City Hall Lawn, families can enjoy the funfair rides, including a spectacular Big Wheel that offers panoramic views of the city’s Christmas lights.
When it’s time to warm up, visitors can head to the cozy Sur La Piste Alpine Lodge Bar, a festive retreat with warm drinks. For something truly unique, the Ice Bar returns — a frosty venue featuring ice sculptures and a truly “chilled” atmosphere.
There’s also plenty of free entertainment, particularly around the City Hall Lawn area, where covered spaces mean the fun can continue even in wet weather.
Don’t miss the Christmas Tree Ride and the lantern displays near the Castle, which create a magical evening atmosphere. Throughout both sites, you’ll find festive food stalls serving everything from mulled wine and hot chocolate to sweet and savoury seasonal snacks.
Entry to Winter Wonderland is free, and you pay for individual activities like ice skating or the Big Wheel.
Skating sessions typically run from 11:00 to 22:00, and some activities may require advance booking, especially during peak hours and weekends.
