About Llety Mawr, Craflwyn Hall

Llety Mawr is an end-of-row cottage in the newly renovated stable block of Craflwyn Hall, Beddgelert, Eryri (Snowdonia). The stables were built at the heart of the 200-acre Craflwyn estate in the 1890s, and now offer comfortable, characterful National Trust Holidays cottages in a landscape criss-crossed with trails and full of wildlife.

Llety Mawr’s front door opens into a cosy living room, with comfortable places to sit by the original fireplace. The cottage has a light-filled kitchen with a large dining table.

From the living room, a stone spiral staircase leads up to the family bathroom and three bedrooms – one double and two twins. The double has a door leading out onto original stone steps, and all the bedrooms have skylight windows.

The cottages back onto woodland, with walks from the doorstep and endless space to run around and explore the surrounding landscape. There are benches at the front of the row, shared with the neighbouring cottages.
Beddgelert village is less than a mile away, and another short walk leads to Dinas Emrys. This hill is famous as the site of a legendary battle between two dragons, one white and one red, perhaps the best known of the myths that abound in this area. There are many trails to follow in Craflwyn and Beddgelert, passing waterfalls, lakes, wild heath and wooded valleys, and a path leading to Snowdon’s summit from the next village, Nant Gwynant.

For the adventurous Eryri is perfect for hiking and climbing, ascend Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). Challenge yourself with various climbing routes and scrambles on mountains like Tryfan. Try kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding, discover a variety of walking trails, from leisurely strolls through villages like Betws-y-Coed to challenging hikes through ancient woodlands. Enjoy unique indoor activities like the Zip World Betws-y-Coed and the Bounce Below experience in Llechwedd slate caverns.

Llety Mawr is next to six other National Trust cottages: Sygun, Dinas Emrys, Aran, Stabl Bach, Yr Hen Swyddfa and Bwthyn Mai which are behind Craflwyn Hall. Larger groups of up to 39 could book multiple cottages.
