The Gower peninsula is renowned for its wide variety of beaches ranging from small coves to the expansive 3 mile stretch of sand at Rhossili bay - Wales's premier surfing beach. The peninsular is served by 268 miles of public footpaths that are used by locals and tourists alike. The terrain is not very taxing and walkers can stroll along the beach front, cliff paths, heathland, wooded valleys and estuary marshes. The round Britain costal footpath runs adjacent to Hill House and there are many walks that can be started from the doorstep. There is an abundance of wildlife and the area salt marshes provide a haven for a wide variety of bird life.
