It has a place in the history of Mynydd Preseli, Llanfyrnach, Pembrokeshire. 200 years ago, this simple (grade 2 listed) bwthyn was erected overnight, on common land by the Morgan family. The last of the family left in 1960.
Using traditional building materials and skills Fron Haul has been thoughtfully restored. Carefully selected furnishings combine with original features to complement the traditional character of the cottage. Fron Haul gives a feel of life in the past whilst embracing the present.
The wood-burner beneath the large ‘simne fawr’ (inglenook) creates a cosy feel on days when you just want to relax with books and games – keeping outside outside! Relax and enjoy the views from Fron Haul’s own landscape – 4 acres of natural heath/grassland which adjoins Frenni Fach Common.
Sitting in the sunny garden arbour, overlooking a small wildlife pool, birdsong will surround you, sunsets will delight you and the closeness of the stars will amaze you. Other lawned areas offer a hammock to swing in, a fire basket to light and sit by and seating from which you can watch Red Kites wheeling overhead.
The summer garden room is a separate building in which you can relax, enjoy tranquillity and the unique ‘French Pastorale’ mural. Artists will enjoy using a ‘studio’ which in the 1960s was used by our artist friends, some of whom became well known painters.
Pretty coastal villages, ancient sites and dramatic scenery are within easy reach as are the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the Pembrokeshire National Park and Llys y Fran Reservoir / Country Park. Walkers, cyclists, photographers, thinkers, wildlife watchers will all find pleasure in the unspoilt landscapes of West Wales. National Cycle Route 47 (Celtic Trail West) runs close to Fron Haul.
Cardigan with good shopping and eating is 10 miles away. Crymych 2 miles away is excellent for your daily needs.
ACCOMMODATION
Fron Haul sleeps 2 adults only in 1 double bedroom. The bedroom is in a mezzanine accessed by a narrow winding staircase and has low beams so may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility.

Sitting/dining area: 2 wide and comfy armchairs, hooded inglenook log burner, small tables, dining table seating 2, window has countryside views to Preselis, table lamps, radio, art books. There is no TV at this property, so it is a real escape from everyday life.
Parlour: 2 armchairs, foot stool, desk with chair, bookshelves with local information and maps, books about Pembrokeshire and a display cabinet containing many ‘old’ items, Blue tooth player, small CD player, window looking out to Preselis.
Kitchen: electric cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge/ice box, dishwasher, kettle, slow cooker, well supplied with all needed for cooking and eating, window looking over the lawn with pond
OUTSIDE
A summer garden room with one side fully glazed, looks onto a lawned area, has table and chairs with kettle and utensils for ‘picnicking’, wooden seating is around the garden. Small pond and a fire pit. Off-road parking for 2 cars.
