About Fowborough Cottage, East Hook Farm

Fowborough Cottage (sleeps 6) is a Grade II listed former farm building on the banks of the Cleddau Estuary, in the heart of the Pembrokeshire National Park. Five miles south of Haverfordwest, the stone-built cottage is set in the secluded grounds of East Hook Farm with immediate access to 120 acres of mixed farmland, meadows and woodland, bound on three sides by the stunning tidal estuary with its diverse birdlife. The cottage enjoys gorgeous estuary views and with direct access to the water, guests are welcome to explore the fields and estuary around the peninsula.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, the beautiful Preselli Mountains and glorious sandy beaches for which the county is renowned are all within an easy drive, as well as the historic towns of Pembroke, St Davids and Tenby. The village of Hook is a mile from the cottage and has a post office and shop where newspapers, fresh bread, eggs, milk and groceries can be bought.

The estuary – a Special Area of Conservation – is home to a huge variety of birds, summer and winter. We offer short, 4 night breaks during low season and it’s hard to beat a dusk winter walk along the shore with the surround sound of curlew, golden plover, oystercatcher and geese.
Imaginatively converted using locally sourced oak, slate and stone, the cottage interior is light and contemporary and provides spacious accommodation for up to 6 people in three bedrooms. The single-storey, open-plan living area has oak flooring throughout and comprises a comfortable sitting room with wood burning stove, dining area and a well-equipped fitted kitchen. Three floor-to-ceiling arched windows open onto a private terrace and lawn with views to the estuary. A door from the kitchen gives access to a panelled hallway with oak flooring, and a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Upstairs are two further bedrooms - one double, one twin - and a second bathroom. The staircase, bedrooms and upstairs hall are carpeted.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, smart TV, guest Wi-Fi, independent central heating (including heated towel rails in the bathrooms), Nespresso coffee machine and a wood burner. A basket of firewood will be available on arrival and guests may help themselves to additional wood free of charge. There is also a highchair and travel cot. Storage for bicycles, wetsuits and surfboards is available in an adjoining outbuilding. Guests are welcome to use the tennis court and the cottage has a badminton set and barbeque. There is ample parking just outside and an EV charger.

Dogs may be accepted by prior arrangement. There is an additional cost of £35 per week for the first dog and £30 per week for a second dog, up to a maximum of two dogs. Guests must bring suitable bedding and are asked to keep their pets off the furniture and out of the bedrooms. They must not be left unattended in the cottage.
