Llanfendigaid Estate - A Historic Coastal Retreat
The Llanfendigaid Estate has been in the Nanney-Wynn family, and their ancestors, since records began in AD 1241. An estate map from 1780 shows it once stretched along the Welsh coast from Harlech in the north to Aberystwyth in the south. Like many great British estates, its size was reduced in the 1920s, and today it occupies a smaller but exceptionally beautiful location in Snowdonia National Park, along one of Wales’s most attractive stretches of coastline.
The estate offers six unique properties, plus a charming Pod and Shepherd’s Hut. One property holds prestigious Grade II* status from CADW, recognising it as a building of exceptional interest. Three properties are 4 Star rated by Visit Wales, while The Cow Shed boasts a 5 Star rating. Two newly restored cottages, each sleeping three, are now ready to welcome guests.
The Cow Shed, believed to be the oldest building on the site, was converted in 2015 from its original use. Retaining its traditional exterior, it now offers spacious, light-filled accommodation using modern materials. South-facing and sheltered from prevailing winds, its private courtyard is warm and sunny year-round.
Inside: utility room, well-equipped kitchen, dining area, sitting room with log burner, ultrafast Wi-Fi, Freesat TV, DVD, and Skype phone. Outside: courtyard garden with furniture. Guests can enjoy an indoor heated swimming pool, table tennis, and beautiful gardens and grounds. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Features include an electric cooker, LPG central heating, and approx. 220 sqm of living space.
