Heavenly Chocolate Emporium, Carmarthenshire

The home of Heavenly Exquisite Desserts, this shop in Llandeilo is full of temptation. Not only are the chocolate creations delicious, the cakes and desserts at Heavenly Chocolate Emporium are showstopping too. Want a cake in the shape of Hedwig, or a chocolate sponge decorated to look like a bottle of gin ? No trouble for these guys. Don't worry if you're not after a huge cake to share – the smaller bites, such as rich brownies and tray bake slices, are available to takeaway.

Cocoa and Co, Cowbridge

Cocoa and Co, a dinky shop tucked away on a cobbled street behind High Street, in Cowbridge is like something from a storybook. As you open the door, you're engulfed in the sweet smell of chocolate. Pure bliss! There are over 100 handmade chocolates to make gift boxes and treat bags with, chocolate novelties for children and grown-up adult treats including chocolate-coated cherries and Italian nougat. There are free from ranges and vegan options, too.

Wickedly Welsh Chocolate Co, Haverfordwest

The bright purple building housing of the Wickedly Welsh Chocolate Co is Wales' answer to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Inside, there is a purpose-built demonstration room which looks into the factory, so you can see the chocolate passing from one stage of production to the next while learning about the history of chocolate and how it's made. You'll also get to sample the end result (hooray!) There's an area where you can make your own chocolate and the opportunity to have a private chocolate party or tastings. The on-site cafe and gift shop ensure you'll be full up with sugary goodness by the time you leave.

Sarah Bunton, Devil's Bridge

If you're in the Mid Wales area and after an award-winning chocolatey treat, head to Devil's Bridge to check out Sarah Bunton's shop. You can watch her products being made in the workshop or browse through an extensive range of artisan chocolates, luxury fudge and tasty little treats. 

Chocolate House, Trehafod

Enjoy making your own chocolates at the award winning Chocolate House, based at the Welsh Coal Mining Experience in South Wales. There are loads of workshops to chose from depending on the time of year, from tasting sessions to birthday parties. Adult workshops (aged 13+) start with an introduction into the manufacturing process, a tasting session and then it’s time to make your own. You will capp, hand-roll, hand-dip and decorate your own truffles and dipped chocolates, which you can take home with you. There are also children’s activities during school holidays. Chocolate House offers afternoon teas and you can enjoy the rest of the attractions at the Rhondda Heritage Park to make a day of it.

Trwffl, Milford Haven

Trwffl is a family run business based on the bustling waterfront at Milford Haven. Their shop sells a variety of gorgeous artisan chocolates and truffles, handmade on the premises, made using locally-sourced Welsh ingredients where possible. There are plenty of tasty gluten-free and vegan / dairy-free options as well.

Take a journey through nine eras, covering 5000 years, with chocolate samples along the way at Llandudno Chocolate ExperienceThe museum also has activities for children and plenty of information for all. You can watch the artisan chocolate studio in action too. Samples to suit different dietary requirements are available.
