Paddle the Llangollen Canal
Chris begins his journey with a two hour canoe trip along the Llangollen Canal with Bearded Men Adventures. This section of the Llangollen Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its calm waters and iconic aqueducts. Glide past lush greenery and under stone bridges, or paddle across the breathtaking Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, suspended high above the River Dee.
White water rafting on the River Dee
Next, Chris swaps calm waters for the thrill of white water rafting. The River Dee’s natural rapids offer an exhilarating ride through the heart of the valley – perfect for adrenaline seekers and first-timers alike.

Hike to Castell Dinas Brân
To round off the adventure, Chris hikes up to the romantic ruins of Castell Dinas Brân, perched high above Llangollen. He parked in a layby along the Panorama Walk road, and takes the shorter, but very steep, 700m trail to the top. The effort is worth it for the magnificent views back over Llangollen and towards the aqueduct - and a sensational sunset from the summit.
