There's a range of accessible and wheelchair-friendly holiday options across Cymru. We've highlighted below a number of the accessible attractions in West Wales that everyone can enjoy. With so much to see and do, you'll want to stay for a while – thankfully there's also plenty of options for accessible accommodation in West Wales too.

With an arc of walls and windows designed to catch the best of the sun’s warmth and light, the Pembrokeshire National Park information centre Oriel y Parc is both contemporary art gallery and an architectural work of art in its own right. Pretty Picton Castle was originally built in the medieval period, but later modernisations have given it a glorious Georgian interior. The elegant rooms feature exquisite interiors, fine works of art and an impressive antique collection. The WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre is a haven for water-loving birds and insects. The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust staff have a good understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and are happy to help with anything from carrying a tray, to advising on the most level route along the paths. With fabulous horticultural displays and Norman Foster’s magnificent Great Glasshouse to admire, the National Botanic Garden is a feast for the senses. All the main areas of planting, including the sensory garden, are wheelchair-friendly. Light, airy and equipped with lifts to make it fully wheelchair-accessible, the Welsh Wildlife Centre's award-winning timber and glass building offers panoramic views of the Teifi Marshes, where wildfowl often congregate, especially in winter. Pembrey Country Park is 500 acres of glorious parkland, hosting a range of activities. The park’s Accessibility Statement (pdf link at the bottom of the park's Useful information page) identifies the physical adaptations and management measures provided through all areas of the park to facilitate access to all. For example, all staff have had disability awareness training, and there is guidance on access to the park’s numerous amenities and facilities.

Coasteering specialists Celtic Quest Coasteering can tailor their daredevil activities to suit just about anyone, including deaf, blind, hearing-impaired and sight-impaired children and adults, as well as those with learning difficulties and limited mobility. Want to meet friendly farm animals, feed penguins and soar through the air on a vintage fairground ride? Folly Farm celebrates Pembrokeshire’s agricultural heritage and offers loads of fun into the bargain. Pretty Poppit Sands is a beautiful sheltered beach, accessible via a boardwalk from the car park. Beach wheelchairs can be booked online in advance of your visit.

Accessibility highlights:

One of Pembrokeshire's most popular beaches, Whitesands Beach's sweeping sands provide beautiful sea views towards Ramsey Island and its smaller neighbours. Beach wheelchairs can be booked online for use on the sand.

Tenby South Beach is a long, dune-backed beach, popular with families and close to the town. There’s a ramp that leads from the car park right down to the sand. Beach wheelchairs for adults and children, and an All Terrain Rollator/Beach Walker are available to hire from Salty’s beach bar and restaurant on South Beach. It is advisable to book in advance.

Tenby North Beach is a long sandy beach set against a backdrop of cliffs on one side and Tenby town and the picturesque harbour on the other. There is a concrete ramp to beach, which is 1:7 to 1:6 for 25 metres. Find out more at the Tenby North Beach website.
