Invented in West Wales, coasteering is one of the most extreme sports in the UK. Coasteering in Wales means climbing cliffs, scrambling over rocks, and leaping into the chilly sea. Your reward? Stunning scenery, amazing marine wildlife, and a real sense of achievement. Brilliant fun, but you need to be reasonably fit, able to swim around 25m, and usually over 8 years old. Find out more in our Guide to Coasteering in Wales.

If you're looking for safe coasteering adventures for families, groups, individuals and couples, book with an accredited provider or guide. These outdoor experts will assess your abilities, teach you how to stay safe, and provide you with the right kit on a coasteering course or day out. We've grouped providers by region to help you find experiences near where you're based.

SWSouth Wales coasteering

The multi-layered cliffs of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast are just 30 minutes from the Welsh capital city of Caerdydd (Cardiff), and have long been popular with walkers and fossil-hunters. The stretch between Southerndown and Ogmore also lends itself well to coasteering and cliff jumping in South Wales. Several operators organise group activities along the coastline, including Quest Adventure Activities Ltd and Hawk Adventures

WWCoasteering in West Wales and Pembrokeshire

West Wales coasteering companies tend to cover the same areas - Penrhyn Gŵyr (the Gower Peninsula) National Landscape and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. With good reason, as this stunning coastline is full of perfect coasteering locations including high cliffs, rocky promontories, sea arches and coves and caves galore. Coasteering in Pembrokeshire

Coasteering began in Tyddewi (St Davids) back in 1986, so it’s only polite to give the noble pioneers at TYF Adventure and Coasteering a shout out. During 30-plus years they’ve taken more than 100,000 splash-happy punters along the fabulous Pembrokeshire coast. Since then, they’ve been joined by several other operators.

Each provider adds something unique to the experience. Celtic Quest finishes off by jumping in Abereiddy's Blue Lagoon, while Outer Reef Adventure Centre and Tenby Adventure explore around stunning Ystagbwll (Stackpole). Preseli Venture offer a full day Coastal Explorer experience that mixes kayaking and coasteering.

Check out other providers in the region, including Adventure Beyond, Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Centre, The Real Adventure Company, Activity Pembrokeshire and Morfa Bay Adventure. Adventures Wales covers Penrhyn Gŵyr and Pembrokeshire coasteering locations.
