Open Tuesday to Thursday, from 11am till 3pm during the summer months (June to September), A J Ludlow Colours Watercolour Painting-café is the ideal place to visit during your stay in Southwest Wales.
When you visit our Watercolour Painting-café, expect a warm and friendly welcome and enjoy the homely experience with an expertly made cup of coffee or tea and delicious freshly-made sandwiches and home-made cakes from our menu, which you can either enjoy al fresco in the café’s garden, which overlooks the Milford Haven waterway with views of the busy port and river traffic to really make the visit special, or relaxing in our studio whilst enjoying the original fine-art paintings, that are displayed there.
Our Watercolour Painting-café forms part of a working artist’s studio and watercolour paint making facility. It is here that we can offer watercolour painting as an indoor activity and passionately promote it as a means of well-being and a great way to de-stress and unwind; watercolour painting as a creative artform, has long been recognised for its relaxing and therapeutic nature. With our rich knowledge of watercolour and teaching experience, we can help you to learn a new hobby.
We provide a selection of watercolour painting experiences for you to choose from, including non-tutored, tutored and some with an indulgent treat to relish, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the pleasures of life! We can make your session truly unforgettable, for example with our Painting and Cream Tea Experiences, when you are ready to take a break from your artistic endeavours, a delightful cream tea is served.

As well as being able to purchase the original paintings exhibited in the Gallery, the art supplies shop offers the full range of A J Ludlow Professional Watercolours and mediums, which are handmade by a skilled craftsman in the watercolour making facility. This professional quality range of watercolour paints offer a wide and balanced spectrum of highly pigmented colours, chosen for their excellent permanence and light fastness. Each colour has been specially created to offer the best performance and be a joy to paint with.
The shop also stocks pure pigment powders and a selection of professional quality watercolour art materials, including watercolour paper from St Cuthberts Mill and Chinese and Sumi-e painting brushes, sourced directly from the artisan brush makers in the Orient.
