About Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2027 Bro'r Wenynen Gwent
Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2027 will be held in Newport, marking the first time the festival has taken place in the city. The event is one of the largest youth festivals in Europe and brings together thousands of children and young people to compete in Welsh-language music, performing arts, literature, and other cultural activities.
The festival will be based at Tredegar House, a historic estate with extensive parkland that provides plenty of space for the competition stages, exhibition areas, and visitor facilities. Organisers selected the site because it can accommodate the large number of competitors, families, and spectators who attend throughout the week.
The 2027 festival will be known as Eisteddfod yr Urdd Bro’r Wenynen, Gwent 2027. It will celebrate the culture, language, and communities of the Gwent region, with support from local authorities and organisations across the area. As with previous Urdd Eisteddfodau, the event is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors and provide opportunities for young people to showcase their talents and develop confidence through competition and performance.
The Eisteddfod plays an important role in promoting the Welsh language and giving young people a chance to take part in a wide range of activities, from singing and recitation to dancing, drama, and creative writing.
