Food festival fun across Wales this autumn

September and October are often associated with the end of light nights, colder weather and staying inside more. One more thing to add? It's the season of Welsh food festivals! With at least ten festivals happening over the period across the country, you're spoilt for choice on places to go for a culinary extravaganza. Here's our pick of the season.

Mold Food Festival

17-18 September

Set to attract nearly 15,000 visitors, this Flintshire festival is all about showcasing wonderful Welsh food and drink. Around 120 producers will be displaying their tasty treats and tipples for all to enjoy. There will also be chef demos (including ones from Nick Nairn and Graham Tinsley MBE), cookery workshops for children and live music.

Abergavenny Food Festival

17-18 September

This festival brings an impressive 30,000 people to Abergavenny to celebrate the best in British and international food and drink. There's plenty to see, do and eat, including five markets: Meat Market, Night Market, Gin Palace, a World Food Market and food stalls. Over the weekend there are lots of masterclasses, tours, tutored tastings and chef demonstrations, plus live music to keep the atmosphere up.

Narberth Food Festival

24-25 September 2016

With food stalls, live music, street theatre and a licensed bar, this food festival has a real party vibe. It has some big names giving presentations, too: Angela Gray will showcase some of her recipes and lead a spice masterclass, Ludovic Dieumegard will return with new Gallic recipes, and local celebrity Will Holland will demonstrate the skills that earned him the title of UK Restaurant Chef of the Year.

Monmouthshire Food Festival

8-9 October 2016

The medieval landmark Caldicot Castle will play host to Monmouthshire's annual foodie fiesta. Top local chefs will be showing off their skills in the Demonstration Theatre, while food producers from Wales will be trading at the Producers' Market. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn, too. Head to the Look and Learn area for information on a wide variety of culinary topics or visit the Children's Quarter to teach little ones about healthy eating in a fun way.
