Easter Holiday round up – Families

Easter is almost here, which means it’s time to start planning your next family adventure in Wales! Take advantage of the extra hour of daylight that spring brings and discover what our beautiful country has to offer.

Great Weekend of Adventure

On 2 and 3 April, activity providers across Wales are encouraging everyone to find their epic! From Horrible History pirate adventures to bug safaris there is an adventure to be had by everyone.

St Fagans National History Museum

Between 25–28 March, St Fagans is hosting a family Easter trail. Solve riddles to find the trail in an attempt to find an eggciting prize!

National Waterfront Museum

On 25 March the National Waterfront Museum is offering an Easter family day out. There will be crafts for kids, live music, a gallery trail and even some real meerkats.

Between 29 March - 8 April, Big Pit National Coal Museum invites you to join the Mini Miners Quest. Take part in the challenge and find all the answers in exchange for an Easter treat.

National Roman Legion Museum

On 5 April, little gladiators are invited on an Easter egg hunt around the historic site in Caerleon. Follow the clues to collect a chocolate prize.

National Museum Cardiff

Between 3 – 6 April National Museum Cardiff are hosting a spring-themed treasure hunt around the museum where you will uncover exhibitions along the way. It’s completely free, just turn up on the day.

National Botanic Garden of Wales

Between 3 - 6 April, the Llanarthne site in Carmarthenshire will host everything from meerkats to magic. There will also be duck herding demonstrations from the Quack Pack, Easter egg hunts and a bonnet parade.

CADW

Across the Easter weekend, 25 - 28 March, there are a host of events taking place at Cadw sites across Wales. These offer entertainment for the whole family, from Easter egg hunts at Cistercian abbeys to knight combat displays at medieval castles

One of the highlights of the bank holiday weekend will be the Medieval Easter Weekend at Raglan Castle, featuring have-a-go archery, living history displays, and hands-on experiences such as sword decorating and medieval games.

Flint Castle will also be marking the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death on Easter weekend, with an exciting ‘top secret’ two-day dramatic event planned in partnership with Flintshire County Council, designed to celebrate the use of this impressive site in the Bard’s iconic play, Richard ll.

On Easter Sunday itself (27 March), families can hop along to a number of Cadw’s impressive monuments to take part in Easter egg hunts and trails, with chocolate prizes on offer for younger visitors

Children’s Characters Mike the Knight and Evie the Witch will also visit Caernarfon, Harlech and Raglan during the Easter school holidays (additional entry fees apply).

National Trust Wales

Over the Easter holidays, National Trust sites across Wales have something to keep everyone happy. From Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts and outdoor activities to historical adventures, seasonal cookery and spring crafts, there are loads of family-friendly events going on.

Easter Holiday Fun at Llanelli Wetlands Centre

Between 25 March - 11 April, Llanelli Wetlands Centre is holding a giant duck hunt across their grounds! Help locate their missing rubber ducks and win a prize. There will also be den building, a minibeast hunt, pond dipping and craft workshops.

Talyllyn Railway

On 27 March the Easter Bunny will visit Tywyn Wharf station, greeting children and waving trains off all throughout the day. There will be an Easter egg hunt with a special prize for the winner and childrens activities will take place between 10am and 4pm.

Gwili Railway

Between 25 - 28 March you will be able to enjoy some family Easter fun at Gwili Railway in Carmarthen. Take a trip back in time on the steam railway and join in with the Easter trail. There will also be a visit from the Easter bunny, a colouring competition, quiz and face painting.

Mumbles Beach Easter egg hunt

On Friday 25 March Mumbles Beach will play host to an Easter egg hunt where you will need to dig as fast as you can in order to search for all of the hidden eggs buried in the sand! Each egg that is found can be exchanged for a chocolate Easter egg! There will also be face painting, Easter themed games and more.
