Have a great day out at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. There are so many things to see and do in all seasons. Children will love the Gruffalo Trail and the British Bird of Prey Centre. We're sure you'll be back again for more. The garden is closed on Christmas eve and Christmas day, but it's open all other bank holidays.

Spend time by the sea

A day by the seaside makes for a perfect bank holiday. There are many brilliant Welsh beach activities to try, including wildlife spotting in Mwnt and rock pooling in Dunraven Bay. With lots of easy access beaches everyone can join the fun.

If you are looking for bank holiday activities in Wales, what about some family fun on two wheels? It's a great activity for a lovely spring or summer day. Or grab a jacket and get out this Easter or Christmas. Discover some of the fab family cycle trails in Wales and family bike rides along the Wales Coast Path.

Catch a show

No matter what the weather you can enjoy a trip to the theatre. It's the ideal bank holiday weekend treat, with a variety of shows at the various Theatres in Wales. There are big productions at Easter and around Christmas and the Wales Millennium Centre has a range of shows throughout the year. Be aware that shows will need to be booked in advance and some smaller venues could be closed around Christmas, so check ahead.

May and August bank holiday activities and events

If you're looking for things to do on one of the two May bank holidays, check out some fun May bank holiday ideas, including visiting bluebell woods, going on a railway adventure and suggestions for places to explore on the Wales Coast Path.
