Hael Farm Cottage is located a half mile from the village of Southgate on the South Gower in a secluded spot adjacent to Hael Farm House (see google earth for the exact location putting in SA3 2AP). The cottage is approached via Hael Lane which leads onto a bridle path which after 300 yards opens out into the farm yard. There is a natural pond off to the right, home to a pair of wild ducks and their chicks, and once through the yard the bridle path leads to Pwlldu Bay, a beach with a long history of smuggling. The farm and cottage are surrounded by open farmland to the cliffs and sea half a mile to the South. Pennard stores and Three Cliffs coffee shop are ¾ mile away, and Pwlldu, Pobbles and Three Cliffs Bays are all within easy walking distance. For golfers Pennard Golf Club, called the "links in the sky" offers a real challenge to all handicaps.
The open plan living accommodation is on the first floor which has 2 sets of French windows looking out onto the beautiful Gower countryside. The fully equipped kitchen, dining and lounge areas are designed with efficiency and comfort in mind. The focal point of the lounge is a log burner together with a wall mounted flat screen TV, wireless internet connection, and Sky. There is also a utility area with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The sleeping accommodation on the ground floor is three bedrooms, one double, one twin with en suite and one single (with pull out divan option). The double and twin have French windows opening onto a paved area at the front of the cottage. The bathroom has bath and shower, with shaver point etc.
There is an enclosed garden area with patio and barbeque for outdoor eating on those balmy summer evenings. The farm yard is non operational and laid to grass with the occasional horse rider passing through on the bridle path.

The whole of the Gower is designated an "Area of outstanding Beauty" and there are many sites of special scientific interest. Amongst the plethora of fauna and flora there are species unique to the Gower, as well as birds like the Chough which is limited to very few locations in the UK, and the once near extinct Otter which has recently returned to the Gower.. The song of skylarks over head, the sight of buzzards soaring on the thermal air and the sudden warning call of the "yaffle" come together to make the Gower paradise for the ornithologist and naturalist alike.
Walkers and ramblers can walk around the entire Gower coastline via the coastal path, and if feeling so inclined can continue around the West Wales coast to Cardigan and beyond! There are a huge variety of walks for all ages and levels of fitness, many of which can be planned to end at one of the fine hostelries that are found around the Gower.
For the more active sports people there are a full range of water sports, climbing, abseiling, hang gliding, and there are various aero clubs based at the nearby Swansea Airport.
Away from the glorious beaches and coastline there are plenty of other attractions, ranging from the recently refurbished Leisure Centre with a superb water park complex, to a huge choice of eating out places to suit all budgets, and the vibrant night life of Wind Street in the old commercial centre of Swansea.
