About Penfro Bed & Breakfast
There remain many original features, the front door, the wonderful main staircase, much of the glass, plaster ceilings, cornices, fireplaces, paintings.
The three double guest bedrooms are beautiful, large, well equipped, with high ceilings and huge windows. Egyptian cotton bedding for your comfort, tea and coffee in the rooms with fresh milk provided.
The rooms are decorated and arranged for the comfort of guests and each one is individual. These are not 'sterile' hotel style rooms, they are personal. You will feel like a very welcome guest in my home. For example, in one of the rooms there is a working portable 1960's record player and records which were my own in my teens.
Service is personal and of high standard as is the food at Penfro. Breakfast: Sausages and bacon from a local butcher, home made jams and curds. In the garden we have, apples, plums, cherries, raspberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, gooseberries or figs in season which are served at breakfast. I try to use the best local fresh produce.
Sit at the large pine kitchen table next to the red Aga, use linen napkins, walk on the original flagstone floor. Sample the real upstairs downstairs! You may sit with other guests or choose a different time, or for an addition charge, have breakfast taken to your room.
Penfro appeals to the businessman with secretarial services available too.
The Burgundy Room should help any romance along. Deep red, velvet, vintage embroidered cotton. Lighting to create that special mood. Learn to talk to each other again, spend time reading, listening to music or whispering sweet nothings.
Penfro is my home, I welcome those guests who appreciate beauty to share it with me.
Pembroke Room, wood paneled, en suite (Victorian), secondary double glazing. TV, video, hifi. King sized pocket sprung bed.
Morning Room: Lovely airy light room with hand made of pine twin sleigh beds. A huge window provides a lovely window seat to look out and watch the world go by. Pretty Japonoise fireplace. The large bathroom for this room is private, on the next floor.
Burgundy Room: Huge room with massive window overlooking the church opposite and smaller window at the other end of the room overlooking Penfro's gardens. Double pocket sprung bed. Deep red colours, hi-fi, record player, no TV (can be supplied on request). Hand basin and roll top bath sitting in the middle of the room. Very intimate. (The loo is on the landing -
some things should be private!)
