About Porthiddy Farm Holiday Cottages
Our two self-catering cottages provide high quality in both of our attractive two-bedroom stone-built cottages above Abereiddy Beach, on St David's Peninsula in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Situated at Porthiddy Farm West, which has been farmed since at least 1340, our guests can walk about 500 yards through our fields to Abereiddy beach and the Blue Lagoon; walkers can enjoy 180 miles of coast path.
Each of our two cosy cottages sleeps 4 people and they can be combined to provide a spacious four-bedroom, three-bathroom home. Visit Wales confirms the quality and comfort offered in these characterful farm-buildings. Pine floors and oak stairs set a traditional atmosphere. If you are seeking an active holiday by the sea and in the countryside, wanting to appreciate wildlife, discover ancient geology, or wishing to relax in quiet surroundings, this is the perfect place.
Old cottages built for fishermen and workers at the slate quarry can be seen at Abereiddy and the old harbour at Porthgain. There, the award winning Shed Restaurant and the Sloop Inn offer good food with another three pubs nearby, and more restaurants in the area.
Bwthyn Hir is a long spacious, single-storeyed cottage that sleeps four people. An antique pine partition divides the sitting-dining area from the well-fitted kitchen including dishwasher, freezer, fridge, washing machine and dryer, cooker and microwave oven. The large bathroom has a full suite with bath and separate shower. The two bedrooms overlook the farmyard garden, with a double bed in one room, and two singles in the other.
Ty Canol is a light and spacious cottage set on two floors and sleeps four or five people. The large kitchen provides the heart of a Welsh home. The butler-sink, wooden table, chairs, cupboards set a traditional atmosphere accompanied by a comprehensive range of modern equipment, including a dishwasher. A comfortable sitting room, and a downstairs bathroom with a full suite that includes a shower over the bath, lead off the entrance-hall. Here also the oak stairs wind up to the second storey where there are two attractive bedrooms, one with a double bed and a single bed, and the other with two single beds. There is also a room upstairs containing a shower, WC and wash-hand basin.
