Once a Victorian coaching inn, the Royal Oak is at the heart of the village of Betws-y-Coed.
With comfy beds, sumptuous fabrics and furnishings our interior design is influenced by the stunning Eryri landscape which surrounds us. Local art work and historical artefacts tell the story of the building and the people who’ve stayed here, giving a real sense of place of being in the National Park, & with three eating venues, who's kitchen teams focus on local, seasonal & fresh produce there's a choice to suit every taste!

With free Wi-Fi throughout and flat screen TV's with Freeview channels in all rooms, a handy desk/dressing table, together with hairdryer, safe, iron & ironing board and tea & coffee making facilities take care of the practicalities whilst our interiors offer modern comfort with heritage design.
The Royal Oak is famous for being the base of an Artists Colony, the first of it's kind in the UK, set up by renowned Victorian landscape artist David Cox. Displayed inside the hotel is the signboard painted by Cox in 1847, showing a grand Oak tree, It was fixed to the wall above the entrance until 1866, when it was framed and displayed in the hall, it now takes pride of place above the fireplace in the lounge. The perfect base for discovering all the wonders of Eryri - Snowdonia whether it's stunning scenery, historic locations or adventure sports - it's all here!
