About Starry Skies at Cwm Cayo Farm
Edition Eight of Starry Skies will take place between 5th - 9th August 2020 on Cwm Cayo farm in the Welsh village of Usk. Brought to you by the team behind Shambala Festival, Starry Skies is designed especially to give free-range kids and their grown ups all the best bits of a family festival and camping holiday rolled into one.
Starry Skies keeps the numbers low, so no hoards of festival goers, and no tramping for miles between tents; nothing is too far away, not even the children. This rustic farm is complete with rolling meadows, ancient woodlands and even an iron age fort, the perfect setting for four glorious days of freedom and adventure beneath the stars. Starry Skies’ ethos is to encourage children and adults to ditch the screens for adventure and the Minecraft for bushcraft!
Is it time to quell the flight guilt and spend that precious family time closer to home? Starry Skies sets aside the pressures of an expensive holiday abroad and shows that it can be a truly affordable UK family summer break. With this in mind, 99% of activities onsite are included in the ticket price. If you do want to escape and spoil yourself, however, there are extra treats available such as massage therapies, wine tasting and glamping options.
What’s on offer for the kids? Budding outlaws can get stuck into archery, axe throwing and the adventure-play wonderland that is The Woodland Tribe, where kids (and their grown ups) can build their very own adventure playground – hammers and saws at the ready! Or grab your towel and togs and brave the ultimate Water Slide, a Starry Skies institution. Expect bubbles, mud and pandemonium.
Make the acquaintance of some feathered friends as the owls from the sanctuary at Festival Park in the Ebbw Vale will be paying a visit to Starry Skies. Fancy yourself as a bit of a horse whisperer? Get hands on with the local ponies at one of the all-ages grooming workshops!
Reach for the lasers (and spot some dad dancing) at the Family Rave before dazzling the dance floor at the infamous Fancy Dress Disco. The theme this year is ‘Lost Worlds’ so delve into folklore, magical worlds and ancient memories and unleash your inner mythical beast! Once the sun has set, the Starry Skies barn will host some stonking live musical performances and DJs, with music for kids, adults and the whole family.
Tucked away from the action is the fabulous Starry Skies Health & Healing Area. With a workshop tent, treatment pods, Whirled Cafe and campfire, this little gem will feed your body, mind and soul. Whether that’s with an espresso martini or mindfulness and meditation, there’s something for everyone!
