The first-ever National Coach Week in the UK is taking place from 1 to 8 April 2022 to celebrate the coach industry. The campaign, organised by the Road Haulage Association (RHA), aims to raise the profile of the coach industry and its workers.

It features a programme of activity planned throughout the week; the RHA will be travelling across the UK in a National Coach Week-branded Irizar coach to celebrate.

Wales was one of the first destinations on the branded coach’s U.K. tour. Leading attractions featuring in the coach / Travel Trade friendly package ‘Coin, Coal and Cheers’ - a combination of The Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant, A Welsh Coal Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park and Hensol Castle Distillery – were visited by the coach.

We’re excited to be launching the UK’s first-ever National Coach Week and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved. Coaches play a vital role, taking us on school trips, to festivals, holiday destinations and football matches, but are often overlooked and underappreciated. We hope that people will get a better understanding of why coaches are so important. People in our industry have shown great resilience over the last couple of years in the face of huge challenges. National Coach Week is our opportunity to celebrate them and the great work they do.”

Group and coach travel plays an important part in our visitor economy. This initiative by the three attractions makes it easier for people to plan their trips – while also using sustainable modes of transport. Coach travel can also help us with our aim to introduce people to lesser known areas of Wales by and to travel all year round. Together we can hopefully grow the numbers of people embracing coach travel to enjoy more day visits and holidays here.”
