Lost Ports of Wales at National Waterfront Museum

Oystermouth Road, Maritime Quarter, Swansea, SA1 3RD, Wales

Wales has a long, indented coastline, almost 870 miles (1400 km) in length. Farming and industry gave rise to trade, and whilst some of that trade flowed eastwards over Offa’s Dyke, much of it also went by sea and river, in many cases from locations where it is difficult to imagine a port today. As part of the 2018 celebration of Wales’s Year of the Sea, this exhibition recalls some of those lost ports.
