Wales Rally GB - Stage 19 at Betws-y-Coed

Betws-y-coed, Betws-y-coed, Conwy, LL24 0AY, Wales

Sunday sees the World Rally Championship action return to North Wales with tough forest stages in Snowdonia and at the Great Orme preceding the finish at Llandudno.

An all-new Elsi stage in the forests above Betws-y-Coed has never been used before in the Rally (Stage 19 at 07:22) while the more familiar Gwydir near Llanrwst has been doubled in length by using another section of closed public road. This is Stage 20 at 08:08; Stage 21 is at Llandudno's Great Orme (09:16) and this is followed by a rerun of Gwydir - Stage 22 at 10:35.

The action then returns to Llandudno for a spectacular finale around the iconic Great Orme - Stage 23 at 12:18. The history-making stage blasts off on Marine Drive, takes in the spectacular ribbon of asphalt that clings to the rugged rock face circling the Great Orme and concludes on the closed streets of Llandudno. Here the rally route switches to closed public roads by following North Parade around the shoreline, before turning inland towards the town centre for a sprint up-and-down either side of the Gloddaeth Street dual carriageway. A spectacular jump is the prelude to a beachside finish on Llandudno's curving Promenade at 12:30.

With the Ceremonial Finish and prize-giving podium also located on the Promenade, it promises to be a very fitting finale to the FIA World Rally Championship's annual Welsh adventure, perfectly epitomising Wales' official 'Year of the Sea', which is celebrating the nation's outstanding coastline in 2018.
