2016 will be the 15th year of the Welsh Perry and Cider Festival…
As with all great ideas, this one began in a pub, among friends. These friends just happened to enjoy making (and drinking) cider too. So with the help of said pub, the Welsh Perry & Cider Festival was born in the gardens and out buildings of the Clytha Arms, near Abergavenny. It was set to be the flagship event of the then newly formed Welsh Perry & Cider Society.
Eleven years later, having realised that we really were starting to burst at the seams of the venue, we had to take the risky decision of moving venue in order to keep the crowds happy, and meet the growing interest in Welsh perry and cider. This wasn’t without it’s hiccups, but where’s the fun in a smooth ride!
So with an interim year at Blaengawney Farm in Hafodyrynys, home to the Welsh Perry & Cider Society office and Hallets Real Cider, we found a new venue at Caldicot Castle for 2013. It was so successful that we just keep coming back.
